I run Your Anthesis, a one-person practice in Utrecht for sexological and queer-affirming counselling, in English and Italian.

Training

Where I am now, without inflating it.

  • Master in Clinical Sexology, Giunti Psicologia.io: modules A and B, leading to the qualification of counsellor in typical and atypical sexuality. In progress.
  • Academy for Coaching and Counselling: the two-year programme, leading to registration with a Dutch professional association for quality assurance and complaints. In progress.

  • Not a psychologist, psychotherapist, doctor or registered sexologist. Those titles are protected, and I don't use them.
  • Languages: sessions in English or Italian. My Dutch is conversational, enough for daily life but not for sessions.

How I work

My role shifts over a package of sessions, and listening runs through all of it.

Listening. From the first session to the last. You talk at your own pace, and I don't interrupt or steer you toward an answer I've already decided on.

Asking. Precise questions about what actually happens, through most of the sessions. The question you came with often sits on top of another one.

Explaining. How desire and arousal work, what's common, what research says, and things to think about between sessions.

Noticing. All the way through: a pause, a change in your voice, the topic you keep stepping around.

The name

Anthesis is the botanical term for the period when a flower is open. I chose it because it describes a stretch of time with something before it and something after, which is how most of the questions people bring here feel.
