Career coaching · Utrecht · five sessions

Work out what you are actually for.

A five-session career coaching package for queer and international adults in Utrecht. It starts with who you are, not with which vacancies happen to be open, and it ends with a plan you can act on next week. It also works as a natural follow-on to counselling, when what turns out to be in the way is work.

A plant branching into three directions, one ending in a bloom

Good fit if: your degree is ending and the plan was always vague. Your job pays but the thought of ten more years of it is unbearable. You moved countries and your qualifications do not translate. You have been performing a version of yourself at work that is exhausting to maintain.

Not a fit if: what you need is CV formatting, a recruiter, or someone to apply on your behalf. I do not do placement.

The five sessions

A sequence, not five separate conversations.

  1. Who you are when nobody is assessing you

A structured look at personality and working style: what energises you, what drains you, how you handle uncertainty, pressure and other people. This is the base layer. Everything later gets checked against it.

  2. Mapping what you can actually do

A full skills inventory, including the ones that do not appear on your CV: languages, care work, organising, translating between cultures, surviving systems that were not built for you. Migration and queerness both build skills that people routinely fail to count.

  3. What the work has to give you

Money, security, visa status, time, autonomy, safety, meaning. We rank them honestly. Most bad career decisions come from an unexamined ranking rather than from bad options.

  4. A shortlist of real directions

Three to five specific professional directions that fit the first three sessions, with the trade-offs of each spelled out. Including what it would take to get there from where you are now, in this country, with your permit and your budget.

  5. The plan, written down

Concrete steps with dates, a first move small enough to make this month, and the named obstacles with a response to each. You leave with the document.

Practical

The details.

  • Five sessions of fifty minutes, usually one every one or two weeks
  • In person in Utrecht, or online if you are elsewhere in the Netherlands
  • Sessions in English or Italian
  • Paid in advance as one package, so the total is known before you start
  • Sliding-scale places available (see rates)
  • Everything you say stays between us, with the narrow legal exceptions set out in the agreement

Not sure it is the right package?

The intro call exists exactly for that question, and it is priced low so that asking is easy. If counselling would serve you better than career coaching, I will say so.
